Children, young people, parents, family members….. do you have any tips to share?

Your experience and wisdom can be extremely helpful to others; people who work with children and families where a parent has a mental illness and other children, parents and families - people just like you. Tell us what helped you cope in hard times or about something that's been useful for you or your family.

Jessica Rowe

Jessica Rowe, Journalist and author, knows 'first hand' about the impact that mental illness can have on a family.

Jessica's Tip: " I used to think I was all alone, when I'd hear Mum crying herself to sleep each night. I wanted to be part of a 'normal' family. But I've now realised there is no such thing as a normal family, as mental illness impacts on so many families across the country. It is very important to ask for help if you need to, and to remember you are not the only one going through this."

Record your tip here.

Many thanks for sharing your tip with others.
