Program Description

The Mothers Support Program provides home based outreach support and case management for women who are living with a mental illness, live in the inner, central southern and eastern regions of Melbourne and have children in their care. Participation in our program is on a voluntary basis only. Mothers Support is a free service.

Evaluation Information

External evaluation company being used to assist with evaluation. This will take the form of surveys, questionnaires and focus groups.

Evidence

Each person in the program develops an Individual Program Plan to achieve goals that they have set. This identifies a plan of action which outlines the goals a clients wants to achieve, what needs to be done, by whom and over what length of time. These will often include family and children's needs. Group activities are also provided.

We offer monthly Peer Support Groups providing mothers with a chance to meet other women dealing with similar issues in a safe and informal environment. Our programs and activities are shaped by consumer needs and interests, and past topics have included parenting, medication, anger management and activities such as bowling.

Any other information

The Mothers Support Program serves the inner south area of Melbourne (Bayside, Glen Eira, Kingston, Port Philip and Stonnington) and the Mothers Support Program East serves the eastern areas of Melbourne (Boroondara, Whitehorse and Monash).
