Program Description

Maroondah Integrated Family Services (MIFS) offers a comprehensive suite of services that predominantly incorporates outreach and group work to children and families within Maroondah whom are assessed as being in need.
Services include:
* Parenting support
* Crisis intervention
* Personal issues
* Drug and alcohol issues
* Domestic violence issues
* Housing difficulties

Referrals are received via the Child FIRST team (1300 369 146) and once assessed are allocated accordingly.

Families are individually case managed by working in partnership to achieve specific goals highlighted by the referring worker and family.

To compliment case management MIFS run a variety of groups which are need led and these include:

'Getting There' a group for parents with mental health issues, run in conjunction with Murnong. A therapeutic group with guest speakers invited in to address parenting with a mental illness, financial counselling etc. Runs term time every Tuesday from 10am to 12.30pm in the community hall at Croydon Anglicare, lunch and child care are included. No cost. Referrals via Maria Fay, group facilitator.

'Boys Group' a therapeutic group for boys who may have or are still experiencing behavioural difficulties, bullying, peer pressure, domestic violence, drug and alcohol. Runs term time after school from 4pm to 5.30pm in the community hall at Croydon Anglicare. Afternoon tea provided. Referrals via Judy Buitenhuis, group facilitator.

'Playgroup', a community playgroup open to anyone in the Outer East who wishes to attend a supported playgroup. Runs term time only in both our Children's and Community Hall at 22 Croydon Road. The VicCHAMPS program will begin again at the start of term 1 2009. The group will run out of Lifeworks at Ringwood on a Tuesday evening, beginning 10th Feb 2009.

Evaluation Information

Evaluation of groups is undertaken at the end of each term for individual groups. Evaluation forms are tailored for each group. Ongoing evaluation is undertaken via Team Leaders for case management, this is to ensure standards are met and quality assurance.
