Program Description

Central Sydney Scarba is one of the three tertiary child protection services of The Benevolent Society.

Client
Children aged 0 - 12 who have been abused or neglected and their families.

Service
Home visiting service that ensures
(i) children are safe
(ii) families are supported to address and overcome the stresses which have lead to the abuse and neglect
(iii) children are supported to heal from the impacts of abuse and neglect.

Fees
Free service.

Referrals come from the Department of Community Services. Issues facing carers that may impact on their parenting often include mental health, domestic violence, drug and alcohol use, intergenerational abuse and social isolation.

Evaluation Information

An evidence based evaluation procedure is in place using standardised questionnaires (for parents), observations and the Battelle Developmental Inventory Screening Test.
