COPMI Discussion List (e-List)

The Children of Parents with a Mental Illness (COPMI) e-List provides the opportunity for in depth discussion on the issues surrounding the provision of services to families where a parent is affected by a mental illness.

The COPMI e-List aims to promote both national and international discussion on this topic.

e-List Rules

1. Be Circumspect

The AICAFMHA Information and Discussion lists are public forums and open to anyone who wishes to participate worldwide. Do not share any information you would not normally share with a large group or in a public place because it may embarrass someone or have negative repercussions. In particular, ensure client confidentiality is safeguarded at all times.

2. Use Netiquette

We welcome a diversity of ideas and viewpoints, but please ensure that all posts are written in a way that you would be comfortable in saying to someone face to face. Derogatory comments or defaming information will result in posted messages being deleted prior to circulation. For further information on netiquette, please refer to Virginia Shea's book. (http://www.albion.com/netiquette/book/index.html).

3. Respect the purpose of the lists

Each list has a specific audience and purpose, this is outlined in each lists information page. It would greatly assist list moderation if only topics of relevance to the particular list are posted. Cross posting (sending the same message to more than one list) is discouraged.

 4. Edit replies

To maximise readability, please 'snip' any unnecessary part of the original message when replying. Quote only enough of the original message so others can follow the thread of your reply.

5. Use Subject Lines effectively

Please use accurate and descriptive subject lines. If your reply introduces a new topic, please create a new subject heading, ensuring that the original is referred to (eg Day patients [was Psychotherapy]). This will assist members in keeping track of threads, sorting through mail and locating information.

6. Appropriate quoting

Please consider everything on the list to be copyrighted by its author. Ask permission from the author before quoting their message. The normal exemption for quoting small parts of published works for the purpose of study and review appears to apply equally to electronic communication.

7. Appropriate use of email adresses

No collection and use of email addresses from messages posted to the list for commercial or unsolicited uses is condoned. Appropriate professional contact is encouraged.

8. Send your commands to the right address

Please don't send Majordomo commands such as "unsubscribe" or "which" to your list. Other list members will not be interested.
These commands should be sent to the Majordomo server at: majordomo@www.aicafmha.net.au

9. Attachments

People wanting to include an attachment with a posting to any of the lists are required to send the message and attachment to  fudgee@aicafmha.net.au for approval. Approved messages and attachments will be forwarded to and circulated to the list.

Messages with attachments sent to the list without prior approval will not be circulated.
